Former Swiss international footballer Gelson Fernandes has been promoted to Deputy Chief Member Associations Officer at FIFA, starting November 1st.

As Deputy Chief Member Associations Officer, Gelson will play a key role in supporting the Member Associations Division, working closely with newly promoted Chief Member Associations Officer Elkhan Mammadov. Gelson will continue to serve as Director of Member Associations for Africa, helping drive football development across the continent.
“Gelson’s transition from footballer to administrator has been nothing short of remarkable. His positive energy and dedication to football development make him a standout leader within our organization,” said FIFA Secretary General Mattias Grafström.
