The confederation of African football (CAF) has extended the deadline for clubs participating in the preliminary round of the 2024/25 CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup to register their players. The new deadline is July 20, 2024, up from the initial date of July 16

CAF emphasized that this extension is the final opportunity, and no further extensions will be granted. The confederation is expected to announce the registered clubs and the date for the draw in the coming days.

The preliminary round matches are scheduled to commence in August 2024. The group stages will follow between October and December 2024, while the knockout phase and final will take place between March and May 2025.

The 12 highest-ranked national associations eligible to enter two clubs in both the CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup are Algeria, Angola, Cote d’Ivoire, Egypt, Libya, Morocco, Nigeria, RD Congo, South Africa, Sudan, Tunisia, and Tanzania

Al Ahly FC is the reigning CAF Champions League champion, having won a record-extending 12th title.

Cameroon’s flag bearers in this competition are Victoria United, league winners and Fovu of Baham, cup of Cameroon winners.

Victoria United will be making her debut in this competition. Expectations are high towards this team who won their first league title in their very first attempt in years.
