Cameroonian forward Wamba Leonel Djuffo added a little more to his side’s celebration of a first Algerian Cup triumph in five years this evening after his side edged MC Alger 1-0 at the Nelson Mandela stadium.
The former Aigle Royal of Menoua forward who hails from Dschang as well as late Landry Nguemo displayed a shirt wishing the former Glasgow Celtic midfield maestro a perfect peace less than two weeks after he died in a car crash in the outskirts of Cameroon’s capital city, Yaoundé.
Wamba added his name to the likes of Rigobert Song, Alexandre Song, Samuel Eto’o, Benoit Assou Ekotto who have paid tribute to the former Cameroon international.
Wamba who shared a close relationship with Nguemo though not of the same generation started and lasted the duration of the final tormenting the MC Alger defense though Mohammed Ali made the difference by scoring the only goal a few minutes before the halftime pause.
The game was somewhat a salvation for CR Belouzidad as they endured a difficult season, losing the domestic championship which they won in each of the last two seasons and also failed to have a good run in the CAF Champions League.

This Cup victory however guarantees a place for Wamba and co in the CAF Confederation Cup next season through which they will hope to right the wrongs and immitate the likes of JS Kabylie and USM Alger on the shortlist of Algerian clubs that won the secondary CAF inter club competition.
Wamba is expected to return home for a short break and be a part of the funeral program of Nguemo at some point in time though it’s unclear if he will stay in Cameroon till the first weeks of August when the mortal remains of Nguemo will be laid to rest in their native Dschang in the West Region of Cameroon.
