Vincent Aboubakar, the star striker of the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon, has achieved a remarkable milestone in his career. With 43 goals now scored, he has tied Roger Milla’s record as the second-highest goalscorer for Cameroon.

The Besiktas player netted a brace in Cameroon’s 4-1 win over cape verde on Saturday in the World cup qualifiers.

This remarkable achievement places him as the second-highest goalscorer for the national team, trailing only behind the illustrious Samuel Eto’o, who leads with 56 goals.

Aboubakar’s international debut came in May 2010, and since then, he has been a cornerstone of the Cameroonian national team.

He has been part of the squads for the 2010, 2014, and 2022 FIFA World Cups, as well as multiple Africa Cup of Nations tournaments.

His high moments include scoring the winning goal in the final of the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations and emerging as the top goalscorer in the 2021 edition.

Aboubakar’s ability to perform under pressure has been a hallmark of his career. His leadership on the field was evident when he captained the team and led by example, inspiring comebacks and scoring crucial goals.

His equalizer against Serbia and a winner against Brazil in the 2022 World Cup showcased his skill and determination, embodying the spirit of the Indomitable Lions on the world’s biggest football stage

Aboubakar’s journey began in the northern city of Garoua, Cameroon, where he was born on January 22, 1992. His football career took off at Coton Sport, from where he moved to Europe in 2010, joining Ligue 1 clubs Valenciennes and Lorient.

His talent soon caught the eye of Porto, where he enjoyed a prolific stint, scoring 58 goals in 125 games and securing a Primeira Liga title.

As Vincent Aboubakar continues to don the green, red, and yellow with pride, his legacy as one of Cameroon’s greatest footballers is undeniable. With each goal, he not only inches closer to surpassing Eto’o’s record but also cements his status as a national hero who inspires the next generation of Cameroonian footballers.
