Victoria United of Limbe are chasing a historic Elite One qualification

South West regional heavyweights, Victoria United and their peers from the North West, Foncha Street FC and Rangers FC will all be in action in the Elite Two championship this Thursday December 29 in what promises to be a dramatic end-of-year match day for the English-speaking teams.

The trio, all in an incredible Elite One ticket-chasing race, will entertain giants; Unisport of Bafang, Aigle of the Moungo and Tonnerre Kalara Club of Yaounde in home fixtures billed for the University of Bamenda Stadium and the Limbe Centenary Stadium.

Rangers FC of Bafut who have been the least performing of the highly pushful three sides this season, will launch activities when they face the very dreadful Aigle of the Moungo at the University of Bamenda Stadium in a 1pm fixture.

The 2021 North West regional champions have won one, drew one and lost two of their games this season and presently occupy the 7th spot on the temporal classification table of the 13-team championship. The team will be out in search of a win against the Littoral regional outfit with hopes of breaking into the top four before new year and heading to the 2023 African Nations Championship break.

The team will however be expected to be at the top of their game when they entertain a more solid Aigle team presently placed 4th on the log and pushing for an immediate topflight ticket following their promotion into the second tier earlier this year.

Victoria United hoping to return to winning ways
South West regional outfit, Victoria United of Limbe will be hoping to return to winning ways when they face five-time Elite One champions, Tonnerre Kalara Club of Yaounde at the Limbe Centenary Stadium.

The side managed by head coach, Guy Kamguia are presently ranked 6th after an impressive start to the campaign that saw the team winning two, drawing one and registering a single defeat in its opening four games to garner 7points.

The team however suffered a shock 1nil defeat to Centre regional outfit, FAP of Yaounde at the Annex A of the Olembe Stadium early this week and will be looking forward to picking an important revival victory over TKC.

The ‘Opopos’ will be highly motivated in the TKC game by their much-applauded display the last time out at the Limbe Centenary Stadium where the team spanked Leopard of Douala 4nil.

Victoria United of Limbe is also hugely pushed by their desire of bringing back topflight football to the South West region in close to a decade since the relegation of Njalla Quan Sports Academy of the same time.

Foncha Street FC out on similar revival race
Foncha Street FC of Bamenda, like Victoria United, will also be out seeking a revival victory when they host 1996 Elite One champions, Unisport of Bafang.

The team suffered a frustrating 3-1 defeat to giants Racing of Bafoussam last week and will be looking forward to quickly erasing the bitter memories picked at the Bamendzi Stadium with a comfortable win over Unisport at the University of Bamenda Stadium.

Foncha Street FC presently sits 2nd on the classification table with 9 points after staging four matches.

The team is pushing for a historic qualification to the top-tier championship at the end of the 2022/2023 campaign after four seasons in the second division, including three extremely turbulent seasons.
