Cameroon professional fighter, Francis Ngannou, has moved into the 10th of the WBC heavyweight rankings.
The WBC announced on Wednesday in their 2023 convention that Ngannou had entered their top ten heavyweight rankings, ahead of Britain’s Joe Joyce and Croatia’s Filip Hrgovic.
“Francis Ngannou did an outstanding job dropping the WBC Heavyweight Champion and the WBC Board of Governors has agreed to rank him as No. 10 in the Heavyweight division,” The world boxing council wrote on social media
In the ‘Battle of the Baddest’ showdown in Saudi Arabia last month, the Cameroonian stunned Tyson Fury by dropping the WBC champion in the third round with a powerful punch. However, he narrowly lost the fight by a split decision.
Despite his defeats, the former UFC heavyweight champion continuous to gather support and admiration from fans and boxing experts, who think he had an impressive debut in the sport.
Ngannou is one of the few people to have achieved this feat after their very first pro boxing match, and one of three Africans in the top 10. Nigeria’s Efe Ajagba and DRC’s Martin Bakole occupy the fifth and seventh position, respectively.
By virtue of winning, the Gypsy King Tyson retains his top position.
