Cameroon’s Volleyball Lions have picked up a semi final ticket in the ongoing 24th edition of the 2023 Men’s African Nations Volleyball Championship ongoing in Cairo, Egypt.
Team Cameroon, beat defending champions-Tunisia 3-1 in the quarter-finals in what was a repeat of the 2021 final, to set up a semi final date with Egypt
The Lions completed the rounds against Tunisia with a 22-25, 25-20, 27-25 and 25-18 score line to emerge victors over Tunisia considered one of the heavyweights as far as this competition is concern. Matter of fact, Tunisia won the last three editions of this competition.
Cameroon who walked their way to this stage of the competition with an applaudable record, will go against an Egyptian side vying for their ninth title and has been hoping to emerge champion since the last eight years.
The lions will be hoping to make it to their third consecutive final in this competition after succeeding to eliminate Tunisia who are 11-time champions and the country with the most titles.
Cameroon has won it a record two times, grabbed five bronze and five Silver medals, the third country with the most titles after second place Egypt whom they look to challenge.
In the other quarter final clash, Algeria eliminated Rwanda in straight set, 25-18, 27-25,25-16. They will face Libya who outsmarted chat in the semis.
The curtains on the quarterfinal matches of the CAVB African Nations Championship have been drawn and the semi final matches gets underway this Monday night.
