Coach Aliou Cisse, head coach of the Senegalese National team has shortlisted U-20 and A’ team players in his 31-man squad to face Rwanda in the 6th day and last day of the 2023 African Cup of Nations (AFCON)qualifiers.
The Teranga Lions who had already picked up a ticket to Ivory Coast next year as top of Group L, will take on Rwanda next Saturday, September 9, a team entrusted to the assistant coaches Pape Thiaw and Malick Daf.
Aliou Cisse will on the other hand, take charge of the Senior selection who are preparing for a friendly against Algeria on September 12, thus, reason for a double selection for the two events.
A final selection of players to travel to Rwanda for the qualification clash is expected early next week from Thiaw and co in charge of the locals to play the final game with the country having nothing to lose against an already eliminated Rwanda.
Senegal are reigning African champions after grabbing it for the first time in Cameroon during the 2021 AFCON. The Aliou Cisse-led team will be going into this 34th edition of the tournament hoping to defend and retain their title.
