World football governing body, have announced the 2023 FIFA Club World Cup draw will take place on Thursday, September 7, at the the Park Hyatt in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia at 9pm local time.
The tournament features seven participants with the winners of each confederation in action.
FIFA will broadcast the draw live from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on its official website.
The tournament will run from December 12 to 22 across three cities in Saudi Arabia, though details are yet to be communicated.
The participating teams are;
Al Ittihad – Saudi Pro League champions
Auckland City – OFC Champions League winners
Leon – CONCACAF Champions League winners
Al Ahly – CAF Champions League winners
Urawa Red Diamonds – AFC Champions League winners
TBC – Copa Libertadores winners
The draw will determine the path each team will need to follow to reach the final. Just like how teams qualified for the tournament decides when teams enter the competition.
Al Ittihad will face Auckland City in the first round to see who plays either Urawa Red Diamonds, African champions Al Ahly or Leon – with that quartet of teams to be drawn in the second round. The winners will then join European champions, Manchester City and the to be decided Copa Libertadores champions in the semi-finals. All matches will be determined during Tuesday’s draw ceremony.
