Foncha Street FC of Bamenda edged AS FAP by 2-1 on Thursday at the Mbouda Municipal stadium, to subject the military outfit to a first MTN Elite Two championship defeat since losing by the same score against Djiko FC of Bandjoun on November 11 last year.

Goals from Carter and John Wonge ensured the boys from Bamenda clinched their first win of the competition having come into the game with just two points from their opening three matches.

Having watched ISOHSA beat Leopards in the early game of the day, Carter and mates descended on the match venue with the obligation to win and move out of the bottom three positions.

It took just three minutes for Foncha Street to go ahead, capitalizing on some sloppy defending and basic error.

FAP conceded an early penalty after their center-back controlled the ball with his hand in the box, leaving the match officials with no other option.

Lead scorer, Carter took the resulting penalty and slotted it into the bottom corner of the net to make it 1-0.

FAP equalized before the interval but John Wonge won it midway through the second segment to keep their survival chances in tact.

FAP improved their game after conceding, creating a number of chances but they were squandered due to poor finishing and communication in the final third.

The game finished 2-1, taking leaving FAP on five points, same as Foncha who both move stay out of the relegation zone.

The defeat means for the first time in 13 matches FAP suffered a defeat, thus ending their 12 games unbeaten run. The side had recorded nine draws and three wins in the past five months.

Excited by their first win of the competition, Foncha Street will switch their attention to the next game against ISOHSA while FAP hopes to bounce back against Unisport that also dropped points at home.
