Elite two: Rangers FC & Foncha Street seize six points from Yaounde clubs

North West sides Rangers FC of Bafut and Foncha Street FC of Bamenda, have recorded wins in their day 14 games of the Elite two championship.

Rangers played host to Tonnerre Kalara club in a delayed day 14 game at the Bambili University stadium on Wednesday afternoon.

After a goalless first half, Sama Alain opened his goal scoring account for Rangers, when he notched in the curtain raiser at the 49 minute.

Fon Boris Kache doubled Rangers lead at the 81 minute, his 11 goal of the season.

The Kalara boys pulled one back with five minutes left to play, but captain Silius Mungala and his teammates stayed solid and secured all three points.

The win takes Rangers to 18 points on the League’s rankings.

Ngong Njong’s hat trick seals vital win for Foncha Street

In the second game at the Bambili University stadium on Wednesday afternoon, Foncha Street FC of Bamenda defeated AS FAP 3-1, courtesy of a hat trick from Ngong Njong.

The forward netted twice in the first half (14 and 35th minute), as Foncha Street took a two goals lead to the break.

AS FAP’s captain Fred Batamack had a penalty saved at the 62nd minute by goalkeeper Lloris Tenda, but FAP scored the rebound to put the scores at 2-1.

Ngong Njong completed his hat trick with a quarter of an hour left to play (75), to seal all three points for Foncha FC.

“FAP is one of the most difficult teams in the league. It was very difficult when we played them away, but in the return game, we mastered them and that’s why we came out with that result. I’m very happy,” Coach Mbabot Moses of Foncha Street FC said after the game.

Foncha Street FC now has 19 points.

Both Rangers FC and Foncha Street, will stay at home where they will host Stade FC of Bertoua and OFTA of Kribi respectively.

Rangers had played a draw with Stade FC of Bertoua in the away game, meanwhile Foncha Street FC defeated OFTA away in Kribi.
