Kache Boris Fon and Nsoh Fabrice scored in either half as Rangers FC of Bafut outsmarted hosts Racing Bafoussam 2-0 this Saturday in match day 18 of the MTN Elite 2 championship to return into the promotion race.
Elite 2 lead scorer, Kache was the main architect behind the win as he scored his 12th goal of the season and created the other played for front mate Nsoh to also improve his tally so far.
Racing entered this round of matches a place and point above visiting Rangers. At least for that, the boys of coach Thomas Liibih were favourites going into the contest at the Bamendzi stadium.
Jeunie Merveil Nguegom picked an experienced Rangers side, strong enough to deal with the pressure of the hundreds of home fans.
Rangers settled into the contest, enjoyed some of the best phases of play in the opening moments, though they were not clinical in the final third.
Shalah Nji on goal for Rangers denied the host twice within the opening half hour as Racing came close to scoring against the run of play.
Kache made the hosts pay when he broke into their backline with a quick counter before finding the woodwork with his effort which turned out to be a one-two with Nsoh who pounced on the return ball to make it 1-0, with his sixth goal of the season a minute before the break.
The 0-1 deficit situation at the pause meant the TPO had to dig deep to earn a point from the game.
However, Rangers returned as the better side during the second segment despite the changes from Racing.
The visitors enjoyed a bulk of the possession and had the best chances though they were unlucky more often than not.
Kache initiated another trademark counter attack deep into the half, but couldn’t finish it as he was brought down in the penalty area at the expense of a spot-kick.
