Lethal finisher Eleane Bibout scored a brace this Saturday as Eclair of Sa’a came from behind to record a 2-1 win against outgoing Guinness Super League champions AS Awa.
Annie Felicien Enganemben’s early strike for coach Hassan Balla’s Awa at the Olembe Annex stadium turned out to be a consolatory goal as Francis Koloko’s ladies rallied to turn things around with a commanding second-half performance.
Awa Filles entered the contest hoping to have an edge over Eclair who had been involved in a women’s cup game within the week but the latter were bolstered by the return of their international players Eleane Bibout and Cathy Biya who started for Cameroon against Portugal last Wednesday in the FIFA World Cup playoff in New Zealand.
The game got off to a worst possible start for the hosts as Annie Felicien Enganemben found the back of the net guided by Biya just 17 minutes in.
The goal was deserving given Awa played better in the opening 15 moments.
Both sides spilled opportunities to score in their high moments of the first segment with Awa missing most of the chances.
Toko Njoya and her mates of Éclair returned for the second segment with a little extra drive and made it count.
Bibout beat teenage Ngole Chelsea in goal for Awa after outsmarting their defence just three minutes upon resumption.
The goal opened the contest as both outfits pushed to get the winner and maximum points.
Éclair was rewarded for their commitment to score in the 68th minute when Bibout scored again to complete her first brace of the season and make it 2-1.
The hundred of fans who turned out enjoyed themselves in the closing stages as Éclair displayed good football and dominated possession till the end.
The match day 9 game finished 2-1 in favor of Éclair as they pick up their fifth victory in nine games this season while Awa can only boast of two wins in as many games this season.
