  •  The Elite One playoffs commence this Sunday, with Douala hosting the opening match between Dynamo and Victoria United.
  • Spanning seven match days and featuring 28 games, the competition will unfold across three prestigious stadiums in Cameroon’s economic hub.
  • The triumphant team will be awarded 50 million CFA francs, while the top three runners-up will collectively receive 25 million CFA francs.

The opening match of the Elite One playoff is poised to be a thrilling encounter as Dynamo of Douala faces off against Victoria United of Limbe. This eagerly awaited clash is scheduled for Sunday, March 17, 2024, at 2 PM.

Both teams, having ascended to the premier league last season, will compete head-to-head for the first time since their separation into different groups during the regular season.

Dynamo emerged as the top contender in Pool A, amassing 30 points over 18 matches. Their formidable defense, which has conceded only 17 goals, is recognized as the joint best in Pool A, complemented by their 21 goals scored.

Victoria United secured the fourth spot in Pool B with 23 points, following a successful appeal to the Homologation and Disciplinary Commission of the Cameroon Football Federation against UMS, Avion, and Yong Sport. As they gear up for the upcoming match, Opopo will be under the guidance of their newly appointed coach, Merlin Njikeu Nkwonyin.

As for Les Bon ba djob, despite the lackluster home game performance, with them securing just one victory, the tide may turn with the commencement of a secluded training camp led by Yves Clement Arroga starting this Tuesday, March 12.

The second game of the day will be between Canon sportive of Yaounde and Colombe sportive of dja and lobo at 4pm. Both sides are no strangers to each other as they were in thesame group.

In their previous encounters during the regular season, Canon emerged victorious with a 2-1 scoreline in the first leg, while the return leg ended in a goalless draw.

This upcoming match promises to be a tactical showcase, as it will be played on neutral ground—a venue where the South Doves have remained undefeated, unlike Canon. The Kpakum boys however have an upper hand as none of their players was flagged for double identity while Colombe will be without five players .

The spotlight will be on the strategic duel between coaches Joseph Atangana and Richard Towa, both of whom have demonstrated remarkable prowess in leading their teams.

They will undoubtedly employ their expertise to secure the crucial first three points of the series. Moreover, Canon, still smarting from their disappointing start against Bamboutos in the playoff last season, are determined to avoid a repeat of that setback and will come prepared to make a strong statement.

The playoff action resumes on March 18 with Stade Renard vs. Cotonsport and Yong Sport vs. Gazelle of Garoua. The subsequent games will take place from Wednesday to Sunday.

Spanning seven matchdays and 28 games, the competition will unfold across three stadiums: The Reunification Stadium, the Reunification Annex Stadium, and the Mbappe Leppe Stadium.

The champion will be awarded 50 million CFA francs, with the runner-up and subsequent positions receiving 25 million, 15 million, and 10 million CFA francs, respectively.
