DR Congo suffered a 2-1 defeat to Chile in an international friendly played at the Stade de la Source in Orléans, France, on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, in their second and final preparatory match ahead of the FIFA World Cup.

After holding Denmark to a goalless draw in Liège on June 3, the Leopards were hoping to conclude their warm-up campaign on a positive note. However, they were undone by two second-half goals from the South Americans.

Following a balanced first half, Chile broke the deadlock in the 52nd minute through Osorio before Sepúlveda doubled the advantage four minutes from time. DR Congo responded late on when defender Joris Kayembe pulled one back in the 89th minute, but Sébastien Desabre’s men were unable to find an equaliser.

Despite creating several promising opportunities throughout the match, the Congolese side struggled to convert their chances, with their lack of cutting edge in front of goal proving costly. Ironically, it was a defender who eventually found the net and gave the Leopards hope in the closing stages.

The defeat highlights some of the areas that coach Sébastien Desabre may need to address before the start of the World Cup, particularly the team’s efficiency in attack.

Nevertheless, the Leopards now shift their full attention to the global showpiece, where they will be aiming to make their mark on football’s biggest stage.
