Convener of SheFootball Initiatives and former Nigeria International, Ayisat Yusuf-Aromire says the motive of her SheFootball Initiatives was to empower girls, educate, and nurture them to become international stars.

The FIFPro award winner said this on the side of the 2023 SheFootball Conference on Friday in Lagos.

“For me, I don’t want to focus solely on government. The government doesn’t have to do everything. Stakeholders and individuals can start from somewhere. On the other end, I found out that Nigeria has lots of talents but because there was motivation, support, or encouragement being the reason why they are just wasting around. This was why I have in my foundation SheFootball Initiatives.” She told pressmen at the conference.

Knowing the benefits of women’s footballers playing abroad, Ayisat Yusuf-Aromire Foundation is set to impact lives through football.

She said: “The motive and the goal is for me to empower girls, educate, nurture, and also try to create an academy very soon whereby I will want to leverage them from playing the domestic league to playing abroad because I have some connections with some clubs abroad.

“That was the reason why I brought Christiana Osodi from the United Kingdom. She has UEFA A-License. I am also a coach abroad and know the benefits and opportunities for female footballers to play abroad. This is the reason why I started this foundation because I want to help and encourage them.”

This year’s SheFootball Conference was attended by football stakeholders with the aim of motivating girls to better their careers via football.

She added: “Being a role model isn’t enough if you aren’t having an impact in their life. That’s the reason why I founded this foundation to help these girls and make them have a better life in the future.”

As part of the conference, eight teams on Saturday will for honour in the first edition of the She Football Initiative Tournament, a vain child of Ayisat Yusuf-Aromire Foundation which will kick off on January 7, 2023, at Legacy Pitch, National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos State, Nigeria.
