The Cameroonian duo of Michael Cheukoua and Kevin Prince Milla have led Grazer AK to a triumphant victory in the Austrian second division, clinching the championship with remarkable flair.
On the pivotal date of Friday, May 3, 2024, at the Merkur Arena, Grazer AK secured their leading position by narrowly defeating Flyeralarm Admira with a score of 1-0.
The match was evenly poised with neither team scoring in the first half, but Lenn Jastremski broke the deadlock, scoring the decisive goal for the home side. This victory propelled Grazer to the summit of the league table with 61 points, a comfortable 14-point lead over the second-placed Reid on 47points.
This monumental win marks Grazer’s first Austrian second division title in 17 years and guarantees their promotion to the Bundesliga, an achievement made all the more impressive as they still have three matches remaining in the season.
Michael Cheukoua was instrumental in the victory. The 27-year-old winger was a dynamic presence for 88 minutes before being substituted. His season statistics are impressive, with 24 matches played, contributing six goals and one assist.
On the other hand, Prince Milla was not featured in the lineup. The 20-year-old last appeared against Bregenz on April 27. Throughout the season, he has participated in seven matches, though he has yet to score or assist.
His move from La Gantoise in the Belgian third division to Grazer AK has been somewhat challenging, with limited opportunities to participate in games. In September 2023, he committed to a one-year contract, hoping for more playtime.
