CECAFA W18 Championship: Uganda & Tanzania off to a winning start

The maiden CECAFA U-18 Women’s Championship commenced on Tuesday evening with two fixtures on matchday one.

Hosts Tanzania registered a 3-0 victory in the opening game against Burundi at Azam complex.

Winifrida Gerald ,Sarah Joel ,and Aisha Juma second half goals sealed the win over resilient Burundi side.

In the other fixture , Uganda left it narrowly with a 1-0 victory over familiar side Ethiopia.

Allen Nassazi came off the bench replacing Shamsa to grab the winner for Uganda.

The inaugural tournament comprises of five nations namely Uganda , Tanzania ,Burundi , Zanzibar and Burundi.

The championship is played in a round robin format as the team with most points at the end will emerge the winners.
