Udinese centre-back Enzo Junior Ebosse could be facing a spell on the sidelines after appearing to pick up a hamstring problem during last Saturday’s Italian Serie A contest with Andre Onana’s Inter Milan at San Siro.
The Cameroon international had to be replaced in the early stages of the first half of the match day 23 game against the Narazurri, having pulled up with a knee injury that he first felt in the 13th minute.
The former Amiens and Lens full-back will undergo a scan to determine the extent of the damage, but he will almost certainly be unavailable for the team’s next matches as well as Cameroon’s double-header AFCON 2023 qualifiers against Namibia next month.
Ebosse a key defender for Udinese this season introduced himself in international football in style late last year when he marshalled Cameroon’s defence in the 1-0 win over Brazil in the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
The 23-year-old has been a vital player for the Udinese during the 2022-23 campaign, making 18 appearances in all competitions, contributing one goal and two assists in the process.
His absence at the back last weekend saw his side suffer a 1-3 defeat to Inter Milan whose coach Inzaghi opted to leave Onana on the bench.
Udinese is expected to provide recovery and return details about their Cameroonian defender in the days ahead.
In the meantime, his club and country have to cope without 2021 AFCON bronze medalist.
