2021 Best player of Cameroon Amputee football league Nkam Elvis a.k.a “Vishow” who was trapped in the 7.8 magnitude earthquake that struck Turkey and Syria Monday February 6, 2022, has been discovered dead.
The Cameroon Amputee Football Federation CAMPUTEE has confirmed in an official statement via their Facebook page.
“Cameroon Amputee Football Federation CAMPUTEE announces with deep regret the passing away of one of its own Nkam Elvis popularly known as “Vishow”, who unfortunately lost his life in the 7.8 magnitude earthquake which struck Turkey on Monday 6 February 2023. Nkam Elvis joined Malatya Amputee Football Club in December 2022 from Abakwa Boys AFC of Bamenda. His side was lodged in a hotel ahead of a game in the Turkish Amputee Football league where his side features.”
“CAMPUTEE acknowledges with deep appreciation the efforts of Nkam Elvis in shaping promoting amputee football in Cameroon and supporting amputees. During this moment of grief, we extend our heartfelt condolences to his immediate family, the Abakwa Boys AFC, CAMPUTEE and the entire amputee football world. Further details shall be communicated regarding his funeral to give him a befitting burial. “. The statement reads.
Nkam Elvis joined Turkish side Malatya Amputee Football Club in the month of December 2022 and scored once for the club before his death.
He joined the Turkish side from North West based amputee football club Abakwa Boys AFC.
Before leaving Cameroon, Vishow helped Abakwa Boys win the maiden edition of the Amputee Football League 2021. He scored five goals behind top goal scorer Ndifor Joel, while serving as captain.
He constituted the first ever delegation of amputee football players that went to Angola in 2019 for the African Amputee Football League. He also featured for the 2022 Amputee AFCON in Tanzania.
