Cameroon’s U17 Women’s national team concluded their pre-World Cup preparations with a 1-1 draw against Ecuador in Morocco on Monday, as both sides fine-tuned their squads ahead of the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup Morocco 2025.
Tiwa Lys Fraiche opened the scoring for the Young Indomitable Lionesses before Ecuador levelled from the penalty spot in the 90th minute to deny Cameroon a confidence-boosting victory.
The draw capped off Cameroon’s acclimatisation programme in Morocco, where they also faced China and the host nation in earlier friendlies. The Lionesses lost 4-1 to China in their first outing and were narrowly beaten 3-2 by Morocco in their second match.
Despite the mixed results, the matches have given head coach Ndoumou Mike valuable insight into his squad’s readiness for the global showpiece — Cameroon’s first appearance at the U17 Women’s World Cup since 2018.
The team is set to move to Rabat on Tuesday ahead of the tournament’s kickoff on 17 October.
Drawn in Group B, Cameroon will open their campaign against the Netherlands on 18 October (8pm), before facing North Korea on 21 October (2pm) and rounding off their group stage against Mexico on 24 October (8pm).
The 2025 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup will run until 8 November, with 16 nations competing for the title.
