Cameroon: Mintack complete 2024 national Interpools roster

  • Mintack of Upper Sanaga have become the tenth and final club to seal a spot at the 2024 national interpools

Mintack of Upper Sanaga beat Foudre of Akonolinga 2-0 this Wednesday to emerge champions of the Center Regional championship for the first time in decades.

The 2024 Cup of Cameroon semi-finalist outclassed Foudre of Akonolinga by 2-0 in the interesting final played this Wednesday at the Ngoa Ekelle stadium in Yaoundé to mark the end of turmoilious amateur football season.

A brace from Desmond Kameni ensured the troops of Jules Ferry Fotso carry the day and earn the bragging rights as the long-awaited Center Regional champions.

Desmond’s goals in the 38th and 64th minutes of the game was the highlight of the contest which earned him the man of the Match award.

The result means Mintack becomes the last club to seal a spot in the 10-club national championship to whose champions and vice champions will be promoted to the second tier of Cameroon football.

The club succeeding Academie Nyom II, 2023 champions of the center region will compete in Group A of the interpools. Mintack, Northwest flagbearers – Options Sports Academy of Bamenda, Littoral Region’s Botafogo FC, will join Union Sportif of Abong Mbang from the East Region and Sporting Maroua of Far North, who were both in the last interpools which graduated ISOHSA of Limbe and Bafmeng United FA at the same city.

The 2024 national interpools gets underway, on Thursday, August 1 with some interesting matches.

Matches in this edition of the competition will be played in Odza and Mbankomo throughout the 14 dats of the competition.

Options Sports Academy versus Union Sportif of Abong Mbang and Krimi against Atlantic of Kribi will set the ball rolling in lunch time fixtures at Odza and Mbankomo respectively.

Botafogo against Sporting Maroua will complete the Day one fixtures in Odza while a pulsating clash of Girondins Athletic of Ngaoundere and last year’s semi-finalist Volcan will complete the day’s schedule in Mbankomo.

The clubs competing at the 2024 National Interpools are; Options Sports Academy (Northwest), Botafogo FC (Littoral), Sporting FC Maroua (Far North), Union Sportive Abong Mbang (East), Mintack FC (Center) in Group A.

In Group B, there’s Buea United (Southwest),Girondins Athlétic (Adamawa), Volcan du Noun (West), Krimi FC Garoua (North) and Atlantic de Kribi (S).

The best two clubs from the competition will be a part of the 15 clubs MTN Elite Two championship next term, though unconfirmed reports have it that FECAFOOT could as well promote three clubs from the interpools to achieve an even number of participants of 16.
