- The Elite Two Championship playoff is scheduled to kick off this Saturday, March 9, 2024, one month after the conclusion of the regular season matches.
- Eight teams; TKC,Aigle,Bafmeng, Racing, Eding, Djiko,Dragon and Panther will play the playoff-up, while the remaining eight battle to avoid relegation
- Teams to take part in this playoff have already been notified as games have been homologated at the level of the clubs
Cameron’s second flight championship enters a decisive phase this Saturday .
The Playoff-up and Playoff-down will commence on March 9, with the venue still to be announced.
The secretary general of CTFP, the transitional committee in charge of managing elite football made this know in a press conference on Saturday, March 2,2024.
“Concerning Elite two, the 16 teams will all be involved, Playoff-up and Playoff-down. It will involve seven match days, which will take about three and a half weeks . It will be played in one city with adequate infrastructure since the games will be played often. We will resume the elite two playoff on March 9,” Faustin Mbida explained.
While the venue and match programs are yet to be announced , the Transition committee intends to focus on cities that exhibit strong fan support and have suitable facilities.
“We are carrying out studies and I believe you all understand that these games can only be programmed in cities where people love football and also where stadiums are available for training” He continued
In regards to homologation, all 16 clubs have been informed of the councils decision regarding specific matches, which is yet to be officially announced. However, the CTFP boss has assured that team officials are already aware of their status as they prepare for this upcoming challenge
The last rankings after match day 14 shows,Tonerre Kalara Club, Aigle of Moungo, Bafmeng United and Racing of Bafoussam, Eding sports of the Lekie, Djiko of Bandjoun, Dragon of Yaounde and Panther sportive of the Nde as the teams to participate in the Playoff-up while Unisport, Foncha street, Renaissance, FC Yaounde,Isohsa,As Fap, Leopard and Rangers of Bafut are to play the playoff-down.
After this phase,two of these clubs will gain promotion into the top flight championship, with three to descend to lower divisions.
As for the Elite one, the championship playoff will run in April.
