Matches counting for the eight final of the 2022/23 Cup of Cameroon went underway this weekend in stadia across the national territory.
Victoria United FC of Limbe seeks to make history by edging closer to the title after recording the highest win(4-0) against CFF les Champions in Garoua on Sunday. Skipper, Alingang Emmanuel scored two, Ikose Njuma and Bijeck made it four.
Relegated 2018 winner, Eding Sport pulled the surprised results in these round of games by eliminating defending champions, Cotonsport of Garoua. Eding came from a goal down to beat the latter 2-1.
Canon of Yaoundé have also been eliminated from this edition of the competition by Fovu Club of Baham on post match penalties(6-7), shattering the five time champions hope of experiencing joy this season after only finishing the league third place.
2021 winners, PWD of Bamenda continue paving their way towards the title after dismissing AS Fap 1-0, courtesy of a goal from Leonel Ateba. Meanwhile, Hilltop strikers saw their end on Sunday, having lost to Stade de Bertoua 1-0.
Dynamo of Douala who is two time champions, is one of those who keeps threatening they may get to the final if care is not taken. In the Douala derby, Dynamo outsmarted last year’s semi finalist to progress to the quarter-final stage of the competition(1-0).
Stade Renard of Melong have been eliminated by Stade de Bandjoun(1-2). Colombe sportive edged Union sportive of Douala 2-0.
As it stands, PWD of Bamenda, Dynamo, Victoria United, Stade de Bandjoun, Stade de Bertoua, Colombe, Fovu and Eding sport are the quarter-finalists of the 2022/23 Cameroon Cup.
The 1/4 games comes up in the days ahead and the big question of “Who may emerge Champion”? Can on be guessed after the last four is produced, which definitely will be the best of teams sailing to the semis.
