Head coach of Medeama SC, Evans Adotey has given credit to his predecessors, David Duncan and Umar Rabbi for their league title win.

Medeama won their first ever title after beating Tamale City 3-0 at the Akoon Park in the final day of the 2022/23 BetPawa Premier League on Sunday, June 11 2023.

Evans Adotey said: “Nobody should blame David Duncan, Umar [Rabbi], they did a yeoman’s job, they started.

“I came in half way so it doesn’t mean I just came and won the cup.

“They gathered some points and I also continued until this final day.

“So the congratulations is not meant for me alone, it is a collective congratulations.

“[David] Duncan part, Umar [Rabbi] is part even those all the technical men they are all part, it is not me alone.” Evans Adotey told StarTimes.

Prior to Evans Adotey’s return to the club, David Duncan took charge briefly before Yaw Preko and Yaw Acheampong were appointed.

The two coaches departed the club with young trainer, Umar Rabbi roped in to serve.

Coach Ignatius Osei Fosu spent less than a season before Adotey made a second coming to reclaim their first ever trophy and three in all for Western Region clubs.

Sekondi Hasaacas and Eleven Wise are the other clubs to have won the league title with the Mauve and Yellow breaking the 47-year wait for another premier league title.
