Coach Mevoungou Jean Eric is confident that Epah Ngamba will defeat neighbors TP Mazembe, to claim bragging rights and move closer to the CAF women’s champions league finals, after Monday’s game.
The gaffer addressed media professionals ahead of the game on Monday 11, aiming to put a stop on TP Mazembe’s journey in the Congo derby, after the outgoing regional champions lost in the opener against Huracanes FC.
Epah Ngamba is making its tournament debut but fancy a chance of being the tournament’s dark horse.
Epah Ngamba’s strength is a great pre-tourney preparation, per Mevoungou.
“Like other teams, we come into the competition well prepared. We had one week of intense preparations and that helped us a lot.”
Coach Mevoungou still has huge respect for Mazembe, given the team’s exploits in the zone and later, on the continent last year.
“We respect our opponents. For us it is a derby. Tomorrow the team that wins the midfeild battle takes the day.
“TP Mazembe are hurt after the first defeat. They will come out guns blazing and I think we can capitalize on that,” the ‘thinker man’ opined.
A senior player in the team, Ngoula Sylvie shares same optimism with her coach; one of defeating TP Mazembe Ladies.
“We are here to gain qualification in the CAF women’s Champions League,” Ngoula aired before adding;
“We do not have as much information on TP Mazembe but we followed 20 minutes of the game they played against Huracanes FC.
“TP Mazembe’s first defeat was good for us because it betters our chances of qualification. Now this is a key match. We will put more efforts to win the game.
“Tomorrow will be a capital so we have to try and get maximum points,” Ngoula ended.
TP Mazembe’s tiniest chance of reclaiming the coveted zonal trophy disappears in the offing, if Epah Ngamba gets as much as a point at the Estadio National de Malabo tomorrow at 1500 CAT.
