Raja Casablanca earned their fifth win of this season’s Champions League group stage, but were made to work for it by Simba SC as the Moroccans secured a 3-1 victory at the Mohammed V on Friday night.
Goals either side of half-time from Hamza Khabba and Mohamed Boulacscout gave the holders the three points so they end the group with 16 points.
Khabba outran Joash Onyango to the ball to put the ball beyond the Simba SC keeper and reward Raja’s efforts 44 minutes into the game.
The dominant hosts took the advantage to the interval.
They were made to sweat after John Beleke – who had been Simba’s brightest man on the night – put his team level within one goal again with a fine finish just before the hour mark.
The host appeared to tire in the closing stages of the game, but won a penalty and converted through Khabba in the 70th minute.
It did not take long to double their advantage, with Boulacsou working space for himself before scoring the third.
The game finished on the 3-1 score as Raja Casablanca completed a double against Robertino’s Simba SC.
They win the group with 7 points better than the Tanzanians.
