AS Fortuna Filles FC have been relegated to the Center Region women’s championship barely two years after they were created.
The club’s relegation was confirmed over the weekend after they suffered their umteempth defeat on match day 20 of the 2023/24 Guinness Super League championship as its popularly known while immediate rivals Itoa Mbong of Nkambe stunned Authentic Ladies FC in Douala.
Meva and Co have endured a difficult season as they club failed to hit it’s steam of the first season in the championship, winning only four of its 20 games so far and crucially suffering defeats to rivals in the relegation battle.
Fortuna earned promotion to the top-flight championship only two seasons ago alongside Authentic Ladies FC and coincidentally their relegation became obvious after a telling defeat against the Douala girls on match day 19.
The club’s relegation hasn’t come as a fluke it has been a season characterized by internal problems and lack of motivation for players of the Mfou outfit.
Their relegation means their remaining two games of the season will be played with less impetus except the player who were not motivated for most part of the season pick themselves up and decide to finish on a high.
Ita Mbong, Dja Sports, Eding Sport Filles, Awa Filles are amongst the clubs battling to avoid the second relegation position going into the final two games of the season.
