- Arthur Avom joined Lorient two months ago from Fauve Azur Elite
- Avom will train with the rest of the first team henceforth
- He is the second Cameroonian in the first team as he joins Darling Zidane Yongwa
French Ligue 1 club FC Lorient have promoted Cameroonian midfielder Arthur Avom Ebong to their first team following a number of impressive displays in friendlies for the reserves during the just-ended international break.
Avom trained with the first team for the first time on Tuesday after the club’s coach, Régis Le Bris instructed he joins the first team.
The latest twist comes just two months after he joined the club on a three-year deal from Fauve Azur Elite, where he had spent two seasons.
The switch to the first makes him the second Cameroonian in the pros, joining Darling Zidane Yongwa.
Avom was part of the Cameroon team that participated in the 2023 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) and also participated in the 2022 African Nations Championship (CHAN) tournament in Algeria.
Avom put up an amazing performance in the opening game of the CHAN against Congo, attracting interest from multiple clubs.
The 19-year-old 2023 francophone games MVP has all of his future ahead of him.
