Angu Lesley N. Akonwi makes list of 2022 Cameroon Ballon D’Or Awards jury

Angu Lesley Akonwi, CEO of online sports news portal Kick442.com, has been recognized as part of the Jury for the 2022 Cameroon Footballer of the year award under the Category of Journalist.

The outstanding and celebrated sports writer, was named alongside 20 other media men and women for the award.

Popularly known as Dr stats for his contribution, growth and mastery of sports, the Under 17 National Team’s Media officer, is the lone representative of the Southwest nominated for the first ever edition of this award.

The young and dynamic sports guru, stands tall as the flag bearer of all sports journalist in the South West region through number one online sports platform, kick442.com for his resolute passion for sports.

After receiving the news of this recognition published by the Secretary General of the Cameroon Football Federation, Blaise Djounang, Lesley took to his social media handle to cast a vote of thanks.

“Special thanks to the President of the Cameroon football federation and his executive for recognizing the efforts and including my name as part of the jury for the 2022 Cameroon Footballer of the year award.
This means a lot to Kick442.com and completes a dream year in which I had same honor from CAF and FIFA earlier on,” part of the message read.

“This is dedicated to God almighty, the entire Kick442.com team and those who sincerely love and support us. We will do a job for the growth of the game,” Angu Lesley wrote.

As stated in his message of gratitude above, Angu Lesley has been one of CAF’s media officers since appointed as the lone Cameroonian to serve under this category during the 2021 African Cup of Nations draw and the competition proper in Cameroon.

He is known and celebrated not only for his contributions to Cameroon football but also football in Africa and the world at Large, reason why he is today, an agent of FIFA due to his relentless efforts.

Serving as Media Officer of the U-17 lions of Cameroon till date since his appointment in 2020, Lesley has earned several recognitions and awards for his contribution in making football in Cameroon in particular, great again.

Last year, he was awarded Sports Journalist of the year by Victoria International Media Merit Award for his visible efforts in promoting African and World sports via his strong pen.

He has been Media officer of the South West Regional League of Fecafoot during the Ndive Thomas Era last season.

The former press officer of AS Futuro Mfou, Eteki Memorial Sports Academy of Tiko, Media Adviser to Eding Sport FC de la Lekie and Team Manager of Tiko United, has been engaged in this field of sports passionately for over 12-years.

Angu is season CAF Media Officer and served the body in that role during AFCON 2021 plus the 2021/22 TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup.

He was recently invited by the local organizing committee of the 2022 FIFA Work cup to visit Qatar’s infrastructure for the upcoming event plus the inaugauration ceremony of the Lusail Stadium which will host the final of the global tournament.

The Cameroon Ballon D’or award Ceremony is scheduled for October 13, in the Nation’s Capital city, Yaounde.

This is going to be the first edition of the award ceremony orchestrated by FECAFOOT president, Samuel Eto’o Fils, an initiative that has been applauded.

Angu Lesley’s nomination has been added to history books as a member of the first badge of nominees for the Newly initiated Cameroon Ballon D’or football Award.
