André Stéphane Bikey joins Zamalek as coach

André Stéphane Bikey Amougou has joined the technical staff of Egyptian giants Zamalek of Cairo as deputy trainer as the club strengthens it’s human resource for domestic and continental commitments.

The ex-Reading FC defender joins José Gomes with whom he worked at Almeria and Al Taawoun earlier in his coaching career.

Bikey, 39, arrived in Cairo later last week on the recommendation of coach Gomes and immediately put pen to paper on a two-year contract just like the rest of the technical crew.

The man who won 25 caps in four years for the Indomitable Lions of between 2006-2010, including featuring at the finals of the 2008 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) will be registered and cleared by the Egyptian FA and CAF for their competitions in the days ahead.

The former Cameroon international Bikey featured for 19 clubs in the globetrotting career that lasted 20 years and took him across Spain, Portugal, Ukraine, Greece, England and India.

Bikey who played 193 games in English football, scoring 12 goals also represented Espanyol, Lokomotiv Moscow, Marco, Panaithinikos amongst others, which gives him a huge experience to transmit to his players.
