- Andre Onana has signed a brand promoter contract with Waspito for a undisclosed fee and duration at the moment
- Waspito, a Cameroonian health start-up, operates across various countries on the continent
- The startup, which raised $2.7 million in seed funding in 2022, added to Cote D’Ivoire to it’s niche in 2023, where it’s testing a hybrid model
Manchester United’s Cameroonian goalkeeper Andre Onana Onana has penned a deal to be the global ambassador of Cameroonian online medical platform, Waspito.
The Waspito communications team let the cat out of the bag this Saturday, May 4 after weeks of negotiation which led to the agreement for the 28-year-old to join the E-health project.
“Hello everyone, We are excited to announce Andre Onana as our global brand ambassador. The 2023 Ballon D’Or nominee has thrilled us on and off the pitch with his drive for excellence,” Waspito communications team wrote on their social media platforms.
Onana’s involvement in health projects is not new to anyone, Waspito says it made the choice even easier.
“His goal to drive livelihoods on the African Continent through his foundation is aligned with our goal towards delivering health without a step in Africa.”
The Andre Onana Foundation provides free medical care and surgeries to underprivileged communities in Sub- Saharan Africa, helping them regain their health and hope.
The Onana project has greatly impacted underprivileged persons especially back in Cameroon. The growing health tech start-up has a massive public relations potential to explore, if they employ the right strategies.
About Waspito
Waspito went operational in 2020 as a Jean Lobe Lobe initiative. The Waspito project enables patients to video call and communicate with verified doctors.
It gives subscribers the possibility of choosing a doctor from a list of those currently online when they log in to the site, unlike other telemedicine platforms that require pre-registration and consultation meeting booking.
Before consultations, patients pay using several methods, including insurance. Following a consultation with a physician on the platform, Lobe stated that because of its hospital partnerships, treatment can continue at the nearest hospital without requiring additional payment or registration.
Onana’s involvement in this project could be a turning point for the Waspito if they make the most
