Ambroise Oyongo Joins French third tier Club

Cameroonian left-back Ambroise Oyongo Bitolo has signed with French National league side Paris 13 Atletico, the club announced on Tuesday July 30,2024 on its Facebook page.

“Paris 13 Atletico is pleased to confirm the signing of Ambroise Oyongo, a very experienced 33-year-old left-back. He has a huge CV that will bring his experience to Fabien Valeri’s group, with whom he has already been training since the restart. Cameroonian international (51 caps), he won the African Cup of Nations in 2017 in Gabon”

The 33-year-old defender has been without a club since July 2022 after his contract with Montpellier expired.

“He was a starter in the final against Ghana (2-0). Ambroise played in the American championship in MLS with New York Red Bull and Montreal Impact, in L1 with Montpellier (74 matches) and in Russia with Krasnodar. After two years without playing, he is very motivated to take on this new challenge in his rich career. Welcome Ambroise!!!” The club highlighted

The 33-year-old began his career with Moussango FC in Cameroon before joining Coton Sport FC in 2010. He won three league titles and the Cameroon Cup with Coton Sport. In 2014, Oyongo moved to MLS, signing with the New York Red Bulls. He was named the Red Bulls Newcomer of the Year in his first season

After two seasons with the Red Bulls, Oyongo was traded to the Montreal Impact in 2015. He spent three seasons with the Impact, making 73 appearances and recording 9 assists. In 2017, Oyongo helped Cameroon win the Africa Cup of Nations, starting all six games.

Oyongo signed with Montpellier in 2018, where he spent four seasons as their starting left-back. His contract expired back in July 2022.Two years later the versatile defender has joined Paris 13 Atletico in the French National league, the third tier of French football.

Paris 13 Atletico will be aiming for promotion after a mid-table finish last season. Founded in 1968, the club plays at Stade Charlety and is known for its community focus and development of young talent.

Oyongo brings significant experience to his new team, having played 51 matches for the Cameroon national team. His international experience will be invaluable as Paris 13 Atletico seeks to strengthen its squad for the upcoming season.
