Sable FC of BatiƩ have appointed experienced coach Alexandre Belinga as their new manager, just weeks after the club earned promotion to the MTN Elite Two.
The decision comes following the surprise dismissal of Ndje Biba, who guided the āSan-San Boysā to promotion from the regional league via the National Interpools in September. Despite achieving the clubās main objective, Biba was relieved of his duties soon after, with the club citing the need for āgreater experience and long-term ambitionā ahead of their return to the national stage.
Belinga, 61, arrives from Yong Sports Academy (YOSA) of Bamenda, who were relegated from the Elite One last season. The veteran tactician ā a former assistant coach of Cameroonās national team ā has been tasked with consolidating Sableās place in the second division and pushing for a quick return to the top flight.
Sable FC, one of Cameroonās most storied clubs, are seeking to revive their past glory. They famously won the Cameroon Premier League in 1999, but have spent much of the last decade outside the countryās top divisions.
Belinga was previously linked with PWD Bamenda earlier in the transfer window before accepting Sableās offer. His appointment signals the clubās ambition to move beyond mere survival in Elite Two and build a team capable of challenging for promotion.
For the fans in BatiƩ, expectations are high. The new coach will be under pressure to blend experience with local talent and maintain the momentum that brought the club back to the national scene.
