Alex Nandje and Frank Emmanuel Beken early strikes helped Fovu to a 2-1 win over struggling Dragon of Yaounde this Monday.

The delayed match day 13 fixture at the Ngoa Ekelle Stadium lived up to its billing, as Fovu won by the odd goal in three to extend their unbeaten run to five games.

The Yongwa Boys in search of a third victory in a spin got off to a great start when tricky winger Alex Nandje manoeuvre his way pass the Cha Cha Boys defence to score the opener after just four minutes.

It was soon 2-0 as Dragon picked the ball from the back of their net eight minutes after the first in what was already a chaotic day for the host.

Dragon improved after conceding the second goal and could have scored if not for a well-time block from Arsene Mbe who put away a great shot on target.

The visitors carried the two goals cushion to the internal but returned to face a much improved Dragon side.

Dragon won a penalty barely minutes into the second segment. Skipper and defender Yannick Noah picked the bottom corner to make it 2-1 after 52 minutes of the contest.

Dragon had the best chances in the rest of the afternoon but a solid defensive display from Nkuissi Legrand and his mates in the heart of the Fovu defence absorbed everything that was thrown at them.

The game ended on a final score of 2-1 in favor of the visitors who count 13 points from a possible 15 in the last five games and are unbeaten since November 2022.

Fovu currently occupy the second spot in Pool B of the abridged championship for the 2022/23 season in Cameroon.

The top two sides in this year’s championship will clash in the title playoff yet to be scheduled but planned to be determinant of the next champion of Cameroon.

Fovu are back on duty against Stade Renard this weekend at the Kouekong stadium in Bafoussam.

Elsewhere, in the other delayed fixture, Apejes lost to Fauve Azur Elite by the odd goal in five.
