The journey to the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations begins in earnest for Chad and Mauritius, as they face off in the preliminary round of the qualifiers.

The first leg is set to take place at the Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium in Yaoundé, on Friday March 22 while the return leg scheduled just four days later in Mauritania.

The Chadian football federation opted for this stadium in neighbouring Cameroon after it’s Idrisse Mahamat Ouya stadium was ruled out by CAF.

Currently ranked 181st in the world, Les Sao of Chad are embarking on what could be a historic campaign.

After 35 years of attempts without success, the Chadian national team is hopeful that this could be their year to not only advance from the preliminaries but also to secure their first-ever ticket to the Africa Cup of Nations.

The stakes are high, and the pressure is on for both teams. For Chad, in particular, this represents more than just a game; it’s a chance to make history and bring joy to their supporters by achieving something they’ve longed for over three decades.

Mindful of this daunting task , the technical staff and players are fine-tuning tactics as best they can. Kevin Nicaise Tatila’s staff have been training amongst themselves ahead of the big day.
