The Teranga Lions of Senegal will face the Menas of Niger in a pre-Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2023 friendly barely five days to the start of the finals.

Information published this Sunday evening by top Niger Reporter AbdelMalik have it that the Senegalese football Federation and its Nigerien counterpart have reached a conscientious to have their national teams clash on January 8.

The fixture scheduled at the Abdoulaye Wade stadium in Dakar will be telling for coach Aliou Cisse as he prepares his squad for their title defense.

The 2002 runners-up are expected to jet out of Dakar just after the farewell game.

Senegal conquered the continent last year in Cameroon and bagged their first AFCON title.

Senegal will compete with The Gambia, 1972 runners-up Guinea and five-time winner Cameroon.

The Teranga opened their campaign against familiar foes and last year’s quarter-finalist The Gambia on January 15. They will follow up that fixture with a game against Cameroon four days later, before capping the group stages with a Guinea.
