Abba Oumate elected FECAHAND president

Former Vice-President of the Cameroon Hand Federation, Abba Oumate , was on Thursday, December 29,2022 elected Cameroon Handball Federation, FECAHAND president in an elective general assembly held at the Mount Febe Hotel in Yaounde.

The Director in Charge of Human Resources at Total Cameroon S. A. outsmarted his main opponent Emile Essombe by 58 votes against 21 in a tensed electoral atmosphere.

Many have considered the election of Abba Oumate, as a rebirth of the Cameroon Handball, as it puts an end to the long standing leadership of Senator Raymond Mbita. Marked by issues of poor decision making and treatment of players.

Barely few hours after his triumph, the newly elected Fecahand President had the following to say;

“It is a new day for the Cameroonian Handball. Our Federation is currently experiencing serious problems. Our role is to reframe things and I think that’s a huge task. We believe with the grace of God to succeed in our ambition. The program we have set up, is based on several pillars: training, sponsorship and the company-handball relationship. ”

“We are going to modernize these different points. And I am sure that things will work for the Cameroonian handball, ” He added.

One of the most controversial events of recent,about the Handball Federation that has divided public opinions and that of the actors, has been the loud cries of the players regarding their poor financial treatment whenever on international assignment.

“On the format of local competitions, I think that we must organize competitions by zones and at the end of the zones, the best will meet with the objective that handball is played everywhere in Cameroon and handball will be played. ”

“This election was very difficult. There is a big construction site. We want to bring together the whole handball family and on this point, we are determined to succeed and to pick up the pieces of this family which is quite divided, ” Abba Oumate concluded.

Some players of the Cameroon Handball National team, could not hide their emotions coupled with the election of Abba Oumate.

Yolande Touba Biolo back winger said :

“I am so overwhelmed that at last our federation has gotten a new President. We believe in change and are anxious to see the new administration give the Cameroonian handball a new page.”

“Cameroon is a great handball nation. I am convinced, with my few years of experience, that the Cameroonian handball will greatly improve especially at the international levels in her performance and image. ”

“Congratulations to the newly elected Fecahand President and go luck in their quest for a better Cameroonian handball “, back winger, Ekoh Karishma said.
