On 26 May 2023, former Indomitable Lions captain Samuel Eto’o signed a contract with sports betting company 1XBET. The collaboration between the two companies is already shaping up to be a fruitful one. According to Brand Ambassador Samuel Eto’o: “The partnership is a win-win situation. It allows me to achieve my objectives, just as it allows 1XBET to achieve its own,” he said, before turning to the potential conflict of interest that could arise from this collaboration with the Cameroon Football Federation: “It’s true that I’m the president of the FÉCAFOOT, but here at 1XBET, it’s Samuel Eto’o’s image,” he explained.
Asked about his plan of action in relation to his agreement with 1XBET, the former Barcelona striker replied with humour: “I don’t know about 1XBET, you’ll have to ask them,” before adding: “Mine is clear and simple, to bring joy where there is none. Because we need to be smiling everywhere, but above all we need to be happy, whatever the difficulties.
The 1XBET Brand Ambassador 2023-2025 succeeds Rigobert Song, the Indomitable Lions’ Coach Manager and former Captain of the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon. The leading African sports betting operator explained its choice in the following terms: “We decided to participate in the development of football and to strengthen the company’s charitable work. Samuel Eto’o has a number of charitable projects, and his partnership with UNICEF in 2017 was not lost on us. We are convinced that Samuel Eto’o’s enthusiasm and commitment to wearing the 1XBET emblem will help us achieve our common goals”, said the Managing Director of 1XBET.
