Cameroon’s Indomitable Lionesses have reached the final of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations after defeating hosts Morocco 3-1 on penalties following a dramatic goalless semi-final.

Inès Michaely Bihina emerged as Cameroon’s heroine, delivering a standout performance as the Lionesses held their nerve to eliminate the hosts in a tense encounter.

Cameroon defended with discipline throughout the 120 minutes, frustrating Morocco and keeping the home side from finding the breakthrough. Despite Morocco enjoying spells of possession and creating pressure, the Lionesses remained organised and determined.

Neither side could score during regulation time or extra time, sending the semi-final to a penalty shootout.

The decisive moment came late in extra time when Morocco were awarded a penalty. Fatima Tagnaout stepped up with the opportunity to send the hosts into the final, but she failed to convert.

Cameroon seized the opportunity in the shootout, showing remarkable composure from the spot to win 3-1.

The victory sends the Lionesses into their fourth WAFCON final, after previously reaching the showpiece in 1998, 2014 and 2016.

It is also a remarkable turnaround after Cameroon suffered three previous penalty shootout defeats at the competition.

Having eliminated defending champions Nigeria in the quarter-finals, Cameroon have now overcome tournament hosts Morocco to keep their dream of continental glory alive.

The Indomitable Lionesses will face Malawi in the final on Sunday, August 16, with Cameroon now just one victory away from lifting the WAFCON trophy.
