Cameroonian referee Ngah Willy Stephane has earned another significant continental recognition after being appointed as the Fourth Official for the 2026 U-17 Africa Cup of Nations final between Senegal and Tanzania, scheduled for June 2 in Rabat, Morocco.
The appointment, confirmed by the Confederation of African Football (CAF), further highlights Cameroon’s growing influence in African football officiating. Ngah will be part of a multinational officiating team led by Algerian referee Mohammed Rafiq Aouina.
His selection adds to an impressive season for Cameroonian match officials on the continental stage. Earlier this year, Atezambong Carine made history by serving as a Video Assistant Referee (VAR) during the CAF Confederation Cup final, while Noupoue Elvis was appointed as an Assistant Referee for the CAF Champions League final.
The recognition follows another major achievement recorded in 2025 when Abdel Mefire took charge as the Referee of the African Nations Championship (CHAN) final, underlining the confidence CAF continues to place in Cameroonian officials for its biggest competitions.
These appointments reflect the steady progress of Cameroon’s refereeing fraternity, whose representatives are increasingly being trusted with high-profile matches across Africa. From the CHAN final to the CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup finals, and now the U-17 AFCON final, Cameroonian officials continue to enhance the country’s reputation beyond the performances of its national teams and clubs.
Ngah Willy’s latest appointment is yet another testament to the quality, professionalism, and growing continental stature of Cameroonian referees on the African football scene.
