Title contenders Unisport du Haut-Nkam bounced back strongly from their heavy defeat to PWD Bamenda with an impressive 4-2 away victory over Victoria United FC on Match Day 20 of the MTN Elite One championship.
Playing at the Centenary Stadium in Limbe, Unisport showed resilience and attacking quality to revive their title ambitions after suffering a painful setback in their previous outing.
Jacques Ekolowa gave the visitors the lead in the 37th minute before Frédéric Selle equalised shortly after the break for Victoria United.
The Bafang-based side responded like genuine championship contenders. Koloto Vivien restored Unisport’s advantage in the 55th minute before Achille Fonkem added a third in the 76th minute. Junior Tang then sealed the victory with a fourth goal in the 86th minute.
Victoria United managed a late consolation through Nko Ghangle deep into added time, but the defeat confirmed a second straight loss for Opopo, who also finished the game with ten men after Georges Iyem received a red card.
For Unisport, the result is a major statement in the title race as they quickly recover from their heavy defeat to PWD and maintain pressure at the top of the Elite One standings with six matches left to play.
