Stade Renard of Melong having gone 10 matches without a win, pulled one of the biggest offsets of Matchday 11, thrashing in-form Gazelle FA of Garoua 4-1 this Sunday, March 22 in Melong.
Coming into this game as the only elite one club this season yet to win a match, Stade Renard changed the narrative in grand style and in front of home crowd, recording not only their first win but one of the biggest wins of Matchday 11.
Thorgan ESSIANE was the man of the game as he scored a hattrick to help the host secure all three vital points.
The striker needed just a little time to establish an advantage, slotting in the lead twenty three minutes into the game.
He doubled five minutes before the break, securing a 2-0 lead for his side, a positive note towards achieving their first victory of the season after 10 disappointing outings.
Last season’s top scorer and 2025 Cameroon Ballon D’or winner, Serge Daura pulled one back at the 80th minute of play, a moment that gave hope to Alioum Kada’s boys as two more would be enough to back home atleast a point.
However, the momentum from Daura’s consolatory goal was shortlived as Thorgan made it 4-0, completing his hattrick and a fine performance throughout the game.
Ngae Bisseme scored the other for Stade Renard as victory was sealed with a pair of second half goals.
The result takes Stade Renard out of the danger zone with 10pts. While Gazelle stays 4th with 18pts, four behind leaders Cotonsport.
On the 12th day of play, Gazelle will travel to Yaoundé to face Canon Sportive of the same city on Wednesday, March 25. Meanwhile, Stade Renard will be in the Southwest region on Sunday, March 29 to go against Victoria United FC of Limbe.
