The Cameroon women’s national team have completed their third preparatory camp as they step up readiness for this month’s 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) qualifiers against Algeria.
Under the supervision of head coach Jean Baptiste Bisseck, the Indomitable Lionesses rounded off the camp on Tuesday at the CAF Centre of Excellence in Mbankomo, near Yaoundé.
The camp concluded with a friendly test match against a selection of players from the Guinness Super League, which Cameroon won 3–1 — repeating their victory from three days earlier. For Bisseck and his staff, the focus was less on results and more on building team chemistry and fine-tuning tactical systems ahead of the crucial two-legged qualifier.
Cameroon will take on Algeria on October 23 in Oran before hosting the return leg in Douala on October 28. The aggregate winner will qualify for the 2026 WAFCON in Morocco, scheduled for March to April 2026.
After missing out on the last edition, Cameroon will be keen to make amends and return to Africa’s biggest stage. Their opponents, Algeria, reached the quarter-finals at the 2024 tournament in Morocco, with a squad that featured several France-born players who added quality and experience to the team.
The tie promises to be a test of Cameroon’s resurgence and Algeria’s growing consistency as both sides aim for a place among Africa’s best.
