32-year-old Cameroonian international Devis Epassy Mbota has secured a move to legendary Romanian Club Dinamo Bucaresti marking an end to his spell with Cypriot side Karmiotissa.
The 2022 FIFA World Cup star and man of the match in Cameroon’s historic win against Brazil confirmed his transfer via social media, by posting, ‘as of today, I’m at Dinamo Bucharest’, on his official Instagram page.
Though the Romanian Club is yet to announce the move, Epassy’s outing confirms reports across Cameroonian media that the offing.
The experienced campaigner who has played in Greece, Saudi Arabia, France and other countries has agreed a two-year contract that will see him earn a monthly salary of €15,000, along with a signing bonus around the region of €100,000.
Beyond the financial side of it, the move to the Romanian capital for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations bronze medalists provides an opportunity to uphold his reputation as one of the most reliable in the goalkeeping business and keep him competitive enough for a spot in the Cameroon team he helped to qualification for the 2025 edition of the continental frenzy scheduled later this year in Morocco.
Once the move is made public, Epassy will join his club colleagues and add to the African contingent in Romania that is currently preparing for a new season planned to get underway in August.
As long as he stays fit and is playing in Romania, he is expected to be named in Cameroon’s squad for the AFCON in Morocco later this year.
