The mortal remains of David Eto’o, the father of FECAFOOT President and Cameroon legend, Samuel Eto’o, have been coffined at the Military Hospital mortuary in Bonanjo, Douala ahead of its final journey this weekend.
The long-awaited celebration of the life of the late David Eto’o pulled a marmored crowd of mourners of all standards of life during the removal ceremony in the City of Douala where he spent most of his life.
Former CAF president Ahmad Ahmad of Madagascar, DR Congo’s Constant Omari who was vice president of the same institution, Oswald Baboké Deputy Director of the Civil Cabinet, state Ministers and regional authorities flooded the event that also attracted Eto’o’s former colleagues.
Late David Eto’o rose to prominence courtesy of the exploits of his sons in the football industry, particularly Samuel Eto’o who played for Barcelona, Real Madrid, Chelsea, Inter Milan and won multiple trophies for club and country.
Eto’o’s affection for his father was manifested on various occasions during his days on earth. The demise of the man considered by many as a reserved person attracted huge sympathy over the past 12 months.
David Eto’o who died in April of last year will be buried this weekend at his native Ngambè in the Sanaga Maritime division of the Littoral Region.
