- Athletes heightened preparation for Mt Cameroon Race
- The Mt Cameroon race of Hope has been announced for February 29
Some two hundred and five athletes took off on January 20, morning from the Molyko Omnisport Stadium in Buea, for a test race prior to the upcoming, Mount Cameroon Race of Hope.
The President of the Cameroon Athletics Federation, Emmanuel Motombi Mbome, gave the kick-off signal in preparations for the 29th edition of the Mount Cameroon Race of Hope slated for February 24 in Buea.
According to the federation’s President, the commitment of all stakeholders to make the 2024 edition a big success is a priority.
The federation is keeping hands on deck to make sure, that the Mount Cameroon Race of Hope be with a difference.
The Mount Cameroon Race of Hope, renowned for its challenging and picturesque scenery draws athletes and spectators from around the world.It also serves as an ideal platform, for the cultural display of the Bakweri people.
The Mount Cameroon Race,is expected to receive more than 600 athletes, including representatives from other countries.
The 2023 edition witnessed athletes from 13 countries competing in the annual event, adding to its international allure.
The Buea test race, holds at the same period alongside the Mount Mbankolo test race in Yaoundé, in prelude to the February event.
Other test races have been announced in Ebolowa, West and East regions in the coming days.
It should be recalled that, all the regions do qualification races to qualify athletes per region who are apt to part take in the athletics Jamboree.
The aim is to ensure a fair representation of athletes from the various regions in the final event.
The Mount Cameroon Race of Hope is not only a sporting showpiece.But also an emblematic event that showcases the beauty and endurance of the region.
