Nouhou Tolo tops 200 at Sounders

• Besides being 46 games ahead of Chad Marshall’s record, Nouhou Tolo made his 200th appearance for Seattle Sounders on Tuesday
• The 26-year-old has been a main stay in the Seattle Sounders team for over half a decade

Cameroonian full-back Nouhou Tolo made his 200th appearance for Seattle Sounders in their 2-0 Major League Soccer series win against Dallas FC at the Lumen Field on Tuesday.

Albert Rusnák and Jordan Morris scored in either half, but the best cheer of the night was reserved for the Cameroon international who assisted the second goal.

Nouhou joined Sounders close to a decade ago as a teenager from Rainbow FC and has gone on to write an unforgettable story for himself.

The versatile full-back that was first drafted into the reserves when he arrived in 2016 has been a part of the first team since 2017, going on to win the CONCACAF Champions League and the MLS Cup.

Nouhou has played in multiple positions since joining Sounders in 2017. He has been a kingpin in defence, helping the team win the 2019 MLS Cup, and the 2022 CONCACAF Champions League.

That is, in addition to being an MLS All-Star selection in 2021 and one of the Best XI for the 2022 CONCACAF Champions League.

His consistency earned him a new contract till 2026 in March this year as the club hope to keep the 26-year-old for many more years.

The Sounders travel to Dallas for the second leg of the series on Saturday in a game which could see Nouhou make his 201st appearance for the club.

At the international level, Nouhou has over 20 caps for the senior national team. He was one of the most used players in the squad in the 2022 Africa cup of nations and also made appearances for the side in the just ended 2022 FIFA World Cup.
