Zambia international Clatos Chota Chama scored a borrowed time equalizer on Saturday to help Tanzanian giants, Simba SC of Cameroonian defender Che Malone Fondoh Junior pick up a 2-2 draw away to Power Dynamos of Bong Lionel Ngong.
The exciting 2023/24 second preliminary round CAF Champions League first-leg contest at the Levy Mwanawasa stadium didn’t disappoint in production of spectacle as both sides displayed admirable attacking strength but were led down by their defensive frailties.
Power took the game to the visitors with their quick-passing approach which created whole lots of problems for their visitors.
Joshua Mutale drew first blood just around the half hour mark, benefiting from a defensive blunder to send the hosts ahead. The goal raised the noise levels from the already vibrant home crowd.
Simba SC had their moments which they didn’t take in the rest of the half, therefore the hosts took their slim advantage to the interval in a game which reserved its best for the second segment.
Chama equalized on the hour mark and in the third minute of additional time, in between a Cephas Mulombwa goal on the afternoon of see-saw emotions for fans of both sides.
The game finished 2-2, with the two Cameroonian defenders putting in a shift for their clubs across the duration of the contest.
The reversed fixture has been scheduled on October 1 and the winner will advance to the group stage of the competition.
