Cameroonian forward Bryan Mbeumo equalized in the third minutes of stoppage time to help Brentford salvage a point against a brilliant Bournemouth in an exciting contest that produced four goals and extended the home side’s unbeaten run to four games.
Mbeumo late equalizer for Thomas Frank’s side again highlighted their resilience while Bournemouth’s wait for a first victory this season.
Despite the dominant display from the hosts in the second segment, they needed a late strike from their in-form Cameroonian to earn a point from a game he could have put his side ahead even earlier.
Mathias Jensen put Brentford ahead through a well-taken free-kick which was confirmed as a goal after the signal from Referee Robert Madley’s watch.
Brentford came close to extending their lead with a great move. Skipper, Christian Nørgaard, played in Kevin Schade who scored last weekend, he turned and directed towards goal but his effort came off the post. It was a telling moment in the first segment as a second goal could have left the visitors with a mountain to climb.
They however kept pushing and were rewarded through a Dominik Solanke’s equaliser.
A well-weighted pass from Marcos Senesi set the striker away and having got the better of Ethan Pinnock, he finished with aplomb past Flekken to deservedly put Bournemouth back on level terms.
It appears Brentford would be the next to score, but a poor back‑pass from Henry Onyeka made its way into the path of James Tavernier, whose rampaging run found the substitute David Brooks, who dummied Flekken and tapped into an empty net.
Mbeumo’s added time goal ensured Bournemouth’s wait for an away win against Brentford which started in 2005 continues.
Mbeumo has scored five goals and made two assists in his last seven Premier League appearances for Brentford.
